Welcome

Welcome to Twinfinite Love. I hope that my periodic entries shed some light on the sometimes chaotic, but always joyful day-to-day shenanigans that come with raising twins. I can assure you, our life is never boring, and I have the blog to prove it.

One Date, Two Denotations

Every year, the first day of summer is a reason to celebrate. It suggests that the sunshine and warm temperatures are not far off. June 21st signifies that we are nearing my favorite time of the year; when the weather is appropriate for shorts and t-shirts, the daylight hours are ample, and we are able to enjoy many outdoor activities like biking, swimming, hiking, and simply "playing" in the backyard. For our family, however, the first day of summer holds another significance. It's the anniversary of my sweet hubby entering the world. So, while June 21st is the day we would ordinarily celebrate the coming of summer, on this day every year, we also get to commemorate Nick's birthday. This year, we had an enjoyable party at home, complete with gifts, eggplant parmesan, and a fresh salad from the garden. Addy, Asher, and I sang a unique version of "Happy Birthday," Nick blew out his candles, and we relished a homemade chocolate chip mint ice cream pie.

Much to our pleasure, the first day of summer brought sunshine and the opportunity to try out one of Addy and Asher's new toys. They were given a neat new sprinkler that they have been clamoring to attach to the hose. So, when I felt that the temperature outside was warm enough that they wouldn't shiver when soaking wet, I hooked it up, and darted through the streams of water to their hearts' content. They laughed and giggled, and thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing jaunt through the sprinkler. At one point they picked up the entire contraption... drenching Mama as well as the inside of the kitchen (before I managed to close the sliding glass door).

With the first day of summer and the anticipation of warmer weather, in addition to the merriment of Nick's birthday, all four of us flashed big smiles week. We are all looking forward to the joy of the next few months. We are eager to experience the many getaways we have planned, to enjoy the Beach Club and Lake Washington, and mostly to spend time in our backyard, BBQing and socializing with our new neighbors. After all, the prospect of a backyard suitable for entertaining was a big influence in the decision to buy our house. And already, with the great times we've spent in it so far this spring and summer, we know we made the right decision in where we chose to raise our family. Good times ahead!
